Created to ensure girls in the state of Kansas are given the opportunity to wrestle in an all girl tournament.

In 2016, McPherson High School (MHS) hosted the first ever Kansas Girl's High School Wrestling Tournament. There were a total of 19 participants with 13 of them being MHS Girls. In 2019 KSHSAA sanctioned girls wrestling with an overwhelming 63-2 vote. Making it possible in 2020 and beyond for girls to compete for a state championship. Since this landmark vote, girl's wrestling has exploded and become one of the fastest growing sports. McPherson did not create girl's wrestling but it played a significant role in it becoming what it is today in the state of Kansas. Below is a banner which hangs in the MHS wrestling room and it will always hang at tournaments we host.
